I currently hold the post of Head of Strength & Conditioning at Fylde Rugby Club, one of the top clubs in National 1, known for their exciting brand of fast, high intensity rugby. I am also Head of Strength of Conditioning at Myerscough College Rugby Academy (Sale Sharks AASE Academy) working with many of the North West’s most talented 16-19 year old rugby players and regularly consult for Lancashire RFU, delivering workshops and develop fitness testing protocols for the County representative squads.
I have been fortunate enough to have a long career as a professional sportsman, spending the past 14 years playing rugby union in England and Italy. I have represented Sale Sharks, Wakefield, Orrell and Fylde in the UK, and Calvisano and Petrarca Padova in Italy; where I also played Heineken and Challenge Cup Rugby. I gained full and 7s international honours with Italy; and under 21s, 18s, 16s and Counties honours with England. I was also named as Lancashire player of the year in 2014 at the annual awards dinner.
During the early years I worked as a successful personal trainer in Manchester which combined with my own playing experience helped to shape my outlook on physical preparation for athletes. I have recently completed a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Strength & Conditioning Science at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, to ensure my ‘real world’ knowledge is underpinned with the best scientific principles and academic credibility. I have also successfully completed the full UKSCA accreditation process and am an officially accredited strength and conditioning coach. The UKSCA accreditation process is regarded as the most thorough in world sport and ensures you will have a top quality training experience.
