Over 40 players from Fylde's Junior section took their preseason preparations to the next level this summer by taking part in training sessions with Warren Spragg from Bodywise Strength & Conditioning.
There were two separate programmes; a 7 week complete preparation for rugby which was held every week through July and August at AKS, and a 3 day camp in August held at Fylde.
Players were educated about the importance of training hard and recovering fully to manage their growing bodies in the best way possible, with the constant reinforcement of a healthy diet and lots of sleep to assist their training schedules.
The sessions all ran at an extremely high intensity, with players developing speed, agility, balance, bodyweight strength and coordination, as well as their fitness levels!
Lots of positive feedback from players and parents bodes well for the future and we are already looking at the best times to continue these sessions with the junior section of the club, creating fitter, faster and stronger future first team players!

Have a read of some of the fantastic feedback from parents and coaches:
"This has been a first at Fylde. It was extremely well attended and the change in attitude towards strength and stamina performance amongst the 30 plus juniors juniors who attended is enormous.
This has allowed the Juniors regular coaches to move coaching the technical aspect of the game quicker than before.
It is many of the juniors hopes that this will remain an annual event."
Adrian Clay - Under 15s manager.
"I have to say I am very impressed. For me it started with the detailed, timely and organised information we received before the camp start. It continued with Ben's motivated attitude when he returned home daily (however exhausted he was), and his increased awareness and interest in getting fit, including eating and sleeping correctly. The biggest buzz was the first day when he came home and asked YES ASKED for a healthy tea with some veg, and then decided to go out for a run! To know he had eaten healthy lunches on the camp was a bonus. To be told such important healthy eating information from a coach whom the boys admire and respect certainly gets the point home to them. The individual feedback is another positive and gives the boys something to continue with. The benefits are still obvious - Ben is actively seeking out chances to do more focused training and he is keen to stick to a more healthy eating pattern. I cannot thank you enough for providing the catalyst."
